I Need You

Since tomorrow is July 4, I should write about my nation and how great it is. I should write about how the United States is drifting into real danger. I should write about how we are to show respect for those in authority in our government. I should write about my hopes for the upcoming elections. But none of this is what God has laid on my heart. Today I am experiencing a strong yearning for my God.

I NEED God because…

He is my COUNSELOR.
“ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17 NIV

He is my CREATOR.
“So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.” 1 Peter 4:19 NIV

He is my GUIDE.
"In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.” Exodus 15:13 NIV

He is my source of PEACE.
”Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV

He is my source of LOVE.
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34 NIV

He is ETERNAL
“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” Deuteronomy 33:27a NIV

He is my SAVIOR.
”And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.” 1 John 4:14 NIV

So why do I try to find satisfaction in worldly things and physical pleasures? SIN.

Lord, I NEED you.

  1. He is, as you stated ALL of the above. It is by Him and through Him I have received such bountiful blessings. Including living in this great and free nation (under God).
Today being what it is,Independence Day, is perhaps viewed by me from a little different perspective..
As the many battles raged on for this nation's independence, I being an immigrant, most likely, had distant relatives on both sides of the battle, giving their lives for what they truly believed in.
I was not handed a free ticket to all the rights, provided to citizens of this nation by birth, I am a naturalized citizen. It came to me with a price tag. I served in our military, proudly. I vote. I respectfully excercise my freedom of speech, religion, peaceful assembly and so on... I am not ashamed or embarrassed of my heritage, but, I left it behind in another land. I "pledged allegiance" to the "flag" of this country and to the "Republic for which it stands" and should I or anyone else to attempt to bring any portion of my heritage, that is in conflict with the meaning of that pledge, amounts to treason, in my humble opinion.
God has blessed this country over and over again because of our noble and just causes and our stand of "under God" I fear our leaders are moving away from the foundation of our nations birth and pray He does not remove His Hand from us as a nation. I truly say " God Bless America" and please give us good leaders to help us follow in Your Ways.... AMEN.
